Accessibility

When is the museum open?

The Maritime Muzeeum Zeeland is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. During all Dutch school holidays we are also open on Mondays from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

We are also opened on Mondays on the following occasions:
Spring break - 12th and 19th of February
May holiday 29th of April
Summer holidays 8th,15th, 22nd and 29th of July + 5th,12th,19th and 26th of August

What is the address?

You will find the Maritime Muzeeum Zeeland at Nieuwendijk 11, in Vlissingen.

How do I get there by public transport?

From the NS Station or the Westerschelde Ferry, take bus 56 or 58 and get off in the center of Vlissingen.

You can either cycle (with an OV-fiets) or walk the beautiful route from there on the green Boulevard, along the Westerschelde.

The Zonnetrein Vlissingen is also an option, it stops in front of the door.

Where can I park nearby?

De Fonteyne parking garage on Spuistraat and Arsenaal parking lot on Koningsweg are within walking distance of the Maritime Muzeeum Zeeland.

Disabled parking spaces opposite muZEEum
Right opposite the muZEEum there are two parking spaces for holders of a disabled parking card.

These are the prices at the box office.
Online tickets are up to 20% cheaper.

Holders of the Museum card, Rembrandt Association, ICOM, VIP-tickets of the Friends Lottery, Friends of the muZEEum and companions of disabled people do not pay entrance.

Do I have to reserve a time slot?

No, you can also buy your tickets at the box office. The advantage of buying your tickets online with a time slot is that you get a discount and are assured of access when it is busy.

I can't get to my time slot in time, what now?

Are you a bit delayed? No problem, you can also enter at a different time slot.

Access / facilities

Is there an audiotour?

Of course. We have a completely new one, in which different characters tell you stories. The audio tour is supported with video animations, so it is not only fun to listen to, but also fun to see.

The audio tour is free for visitors.

Am I allowed to carry my bag into the museum?

Large bags/backpacks are not allowed into the museum. We have lockers to leave them safely during your visit.

Are there lockers?

Yes there are lockers, you can use them for free.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are not allowed in the Maritime Muzeeum Zeeland.

Assistance dogs with a harness are welcome. Assistance dogs do not need to be registered prior to the visit.

Can I eat and drink something in the museum?

In the museum you can enjoy coffee, tea and soft drinks in the muZEEum café.

There are many coffee/lunch cafes nearby. If you want to stop there for a while, you can return to the museum later.

Is the museum accessible by wheelchair?

Yes, the entire museum (with the exception of the open depot and the centuries-old tower) is wheelchair accessible.

Groups / tours

Can I book a tour?

Yes, you must request a tour before your visit. Email your request, including the desired day, time, group size and composition to: groepen@muzeeum.nl. We have a maximum group size of 15 people per guide.

A theme can be chosen in consultation. Think of the VOC, Zeeland's slavery past, life on board, Michiel de Ruyter, strong women on shore or the Second World War, Battle of the Scheldt in Vlissingen. Another topic that interests you is always open for discussion!

Can a bus/coach stop in front of the museum?

Yes, right in front of the museum there is a place where a coach can stop to drop off/pick up people.

How long can I book/cancel a tour in advance?

You can request a tour up to at least two weeks before the desired date.

You can cancel a tour up to a week before the planned date.

Can I have something to eat/drink in the museum with a group?

Yes, this is possible, indicate your wishes in a timely manner (at least two weeks before the visit) and we will discuss the possibilities.
